Custom List 4 Sobi Pro: The All In One Module for Sobi Pro

We are quite proud to announce that Custom List 4 Sobi Pro, the all in one module that can act as a Featured Items Module, Latest Items Module and a Custom Filtered List Module. The extension is available for Joomla 1.5 as well as Joomla 1.6.

One of the main design considerations at Kulendra.Net is to provide as much configurability as possible to the users. This is what gave birth to great extensions like Modules2Pages and kBanners4Joomla. When we first started developing for SobiPro, the most natural first step was the Latest Items module. But when we started drawing plans for the next modules, we saw that all of them have a pattern, what everyone wants is a display module that filters items through a given criteria. If it is a Latest Items module, then your criteria is the last 'n' items. If it is a Featured Items module, then what you need is to filter the items tagged as Featured Items. Same for Items by Author. Or Items Nearing Expiration.

Perhaps it would have made commercial sense to build a module for each of the purposes, and perhaps we will in the future :) But for the moment, we thought that we would give it to the community, and build one module that can be configured to work as any thing. Yeap, that's correct, one module that can act as a Latest Items, a Featured Items, Items by Author and many more.

So how does this all work? It's quite simple when you really look at it. From the display front, each item needs to have a Title, Description and an Image. And the extension allows you to assign any field of an item for each of the three fields. In addition to this, users can decide if the items should be listed as a plain list or as a slideshow.

On the filteration side, users can configure the number of items to be displayed and also a sort field. Users can decide whether the sort order should be ascending or descending and then write a simple rule for filtering the items. You want a Latest Items module? The rule is simply 1==1. Want a Featured Items module? Set the rule to [field_featured]=="Yes". Want a Listings By Author? Set rule to [author]==<userid> or better yet, [author]==$uid (which will dynamically display a list based on the currently logged in user).

So there you go, a SobiPro Module that can work as anything you want it to be and even become a slideshow module. Interested?
